Steps To Prohibit Installation of Smart Meters

ONLY DEFENSE AGAINST RECEIVING A SMART METER IS FOLLOWING THE INSTRUCTIONS ON THIS PAGE.  TO PROHIBIT L P & L FROM REPLACING YOUR OLD PRESENT METER WITH A SMART METER, YOU NEED TO DO THE FOLLOWING.

Step One

Print out the “No Consent Letter“.

Fill  in the Date, your Name and Address, and sign the letter.

Send the letter by registered mail, (return receipt requested with a signature) to Board Chairman, LP & L.

When you receive the signed receipt, file it in a safe place for proof of your action.

Step Two

Be sure that your property is locked (from the inside is better) & that “NO Trespassing” signs are posted.

Post “ATTENTION: Do Not Install A Smart Meter” Sign.  Do NOT block meter reading window.

Print out a copy of the Rep. Dennis Bonnen Letter & Legislation & keep handy in case the police are called out.

Step Three

Go to:  http://lubbockagainstsmartmeters.com and http://texansagainstsmartmeters.com/ &  EDUCATE YOURSELF

Then begin to educate all you come in contact with by sending them there also.

Print out the “No Consent Letter” and Information Sheet and hand out to your friends and neighbors.

Tell all you meet about the dangers of these meters.

Know your rights.  Follow through with the above steps no matter what you hear.  To have on record a “No Consent” is critical to your not having a smart meter down the line.  L P & L may or the city may tell you that they are just considering putting these meters in and there is no need to send these letters to them.  This is not true.  You must follow through in order to protect yourself.

*In no way are we providing legal advice or guaranteeing that a meter will not be installed against your will!  This is just your best shot in our observance around the country taking into account local, state, and federal laws.

F A Q s

If the police are called:

Don’t be aggressive with them … be courteous but firm.  If they tell you that you MUST let them install the meter, first explain the meters are NOT mandated and show them the legislation and the letter from Bonnen, explaining that HE wrote the legislation; if they still persist, ask to see the law that says you MUST take one and assure them that if they can show you where you are breaking the law, you will be more than happy to submit.  When they cannot show you, tell them that you want the installers to be given a “written criminal trespass warning” until such time as they provide you with LEGAL paperwork.  If they persist, ask for a supervisor…keep going up the chain.  Always be courteous and respectful but stand your ground.  If they threaten to arrest you, ask what their probable cause is!  POLITELY ask the officer if they are aware that if they violate your Fourth Amendment rights by forcing this that you are under the impression that you can and will be forced to file a suit against the officer and that you can take their home, boats, etc.

If the installers jump your fence OR cut your locks:

YOU call the police FIRST!   File criminal trespassing OR destruction of private property.  Be sure to get a report made and an incident number.
